South Charlotte 8U Modified Coach Pitch Softball

Program Description

South Charlotte Recreation Association provides 8U Modified Coach Pitch as an introductory-level program for our younger players. Players should be 7 or 8 years old as of December 31, 2025.

Registration Fee: $275

Equipment

Uniforms: SCRA provides jersey, socks and belt. Navy pants are to be purchased on your own.

Required equipment: Softball glove, softball bat, batting helmet (with cage), and fielding face-mask.

Recommended equipment: Rubber cleats. Metal cleats are not allowed.

8u Overview

Primary Ages	7-8 Years Old
Goals/Rules	Introduction to fastpitch softball. All girls begin to hit off girl pitchers. Batters will begin with a 1-0 count (1 ball) in all kid-pitch innings. Coach pitches when four balls have been pitched to batter. No batters walk. Batters get 3 total pitches from Coach. Pitchers can pitch no more than 4 innings over two consecutive games.

Season

If there are enough players to form more than one team, teams will be formed following player evaluations. Spring practices begin in mid February with the Spring season ending tournament finishing in early June. Fall practices begin mid-August with the Fall season ending tournament finishing in early November. 8U weekday games begin at 6pm, usually finishing by 7:30. Weekday games are typically held on Mondays and/or Wednesdays. Weekend games are all played during the day mostly on Saturdays. All teams have 10 regular season games and participate in a post-season tournament.
