Team Formation Notes

Notes on team formation at each age level:

  • For 7U/TM and 8U those teams will be filled on first come first serve basis.  These teams will be capped at 24 players.
  • For 9U, 10U, 11U and 12U we will have 2 types of teams.  We will have a COMPETITIVE team and a DEVELOPMENTAL team at each level.  COMPETITIVE teams will be capped at 20-22 players and DEVELOPMENTAL teams will be capped at 26 players.
  • For 13U we are currently building that team "offline" (it will be considered a COMPETITIVE team) but will not start taking payments for registrations until we feel comfortable with the roster size.  If interested in 13U please fill out the INTEREST registration above.
    • If a player wants to, they may play both Middle School and Pop Warner.  CMS for example practices/games are usually Monday-Wednesday/Thursday.  Pop Warner games are Saturday.

Where needed player evaluations will be held in July.

The ability to form teams for some ages is dependent on the number of registrations we receive and if we receive the volunteers to coach.

Initial team assignment in most cases will be done in early July.

There is NO GUARANTEE to be assigned to the same coach as last year.

But the first step is to register as soon as possible.

Definition of the 2 Types of Teams

9U, 10U, 11U and 12U there will be a team classified as COMPETITIVE and a team classified as DEVELOPMENTAL.

  • COMPETITIVE TEAMS
    • Will play anyone in league - expect to play the best.
    • Be open to travel - includes Wilmington, Raleigh and Columbia Areas.
    • These are primarily returning teams where the players have been approved by the head coach
    • Are primarily made up of experienced players comfortable with tackle football contact
    • The families of these players are 100% dedicated to football as their main fall sport.
    • 100% attendance is expected
  • DEVELOPMENTAL TEAMS
    • Will generally be paired against other similar experienced teams in our league
    • Are made up of first year football players that are new to contact
    • Teams will focus on fundamentals and introduction to contact
    • These players may also be playing another sport that may conflict with football practices and games

Our 7U and 8U teams are considered to be DEVELOPMENTAL and our 13U team is considered to COMPETITIVE.
